Defined term
Discovery sprint
A 2-week paid engagement that maps the workflow, baseline metrics, systems, and risk model.
Our Discovery sprint is the first phase of every engagement: 2 weeks, fixed price, output is a scoped statement of work for the Build phase. It documents the current process, baseline KPIs, data access requirements, risk model, and target outcome. Discovery de-risks both sides before committing to a larger Build.
When it matters
Always — it is the gate to any Build commitment. Two weeks of fixed-price work that de-risks both sides: scope, baseline, systems, risks, success criteria all locked before larger spend.
Real example
A 2-week Discovery for an insurance-claims workflow: week 1 — interviews with operators, system access requests, current-state mapping, KPI baseline capture. Week 2 — target architecture, risk register, labelled-test-set scaffolding, Build SoW with fixed price. Output: 25-page report + 8-page SoW.
KPIs to watch
Discovery → Build conversion rate (>70% target), Discovery deliverable quality (>4/5 on customer review), time from Discovery close to Build kickoff (<2 weeks).
